Challenges
Solutions

Through its extensive portfolio of brands and its global networks, the group today covers a large spectrum of activities with leading market positions.

When it comes to security, facing such a diversity of brands, corporate histories and company sizes makes the management of cyber risks highly challenging. Indeed, depending on the resources and priorities of a subsidiary company, cybersecurity can be handled differently. It is essential for Lagardère to guarantee an optimal and homogeneous level of security across all the different entities of the group.

Guaranteeing this level of security requires advanced expertise, which can be costly and time-consuming, especially in highly technical matters such as Active Directory security. Small businesses with limited IT resources can find it difficult to allocate the required amount of time to fulfill their cybersecurity strategy needs.

Since its original design, Alsid’s solution has been conceived as a seamless, non-intrusive, and easy to deploy product able to perfectly fit the largest companies as well as the smallest entities. This adaptative design was key to allow a smooth product deployment in Lagardère’s environment: it only took three days to deploy the fully packaged and turnkey Alsid’s solution without impacting Lagardère’s activity.

Alsid’s remote-enclave solution was the perfect match for Lagardère’s needs. Completely autonomous, the solution does not require any regular action from the security team to be efficient. On the contrary, the product acts as a control tower in charge of Active Directory security. The solution will only raise alerts to the security team when a security vulnerability or a security breach is detected.

Lagardère wanted to offer each of its entities the ability to have their own security monitoring solution. This has been achieved by deploying cloud platforms for every entity. Although more ambitious, this approach has been possible thanks to Alsid’s cost model, which is based exclusively on the monitored infrastructure’s size. Small companies finally have the ability to benefit from state-of-the-art Active Directory security at a reasonable price.

Alsid integration was not only accomplished in a day, but it also provided efficient security monitoring on atomic infrastructures without any impact on the workload of security teams.

Results

Make advanced cybersecurity reachable for small entities

Lagardère’s group is comprised of numerous small perimeters that all have specific business concerns and IT distinctive characteristics. As Alsid’s solution automatically learns the monitored Active Directory perimeters, the analysis is adjusted to perfectly fit heterogeneous business organizations, from the largest to the smallest corporate environments.

Using Alsid’s solution, Lagardère was able to ensure state-of-the-art security monitoring for its entities. To keep subsidiaries in charge of their environment, one Alsid platform has been deployed on each entity. This objective wouldn’t be achieved without a cost model adapted to the limited resources small entities can invest on cybersecurity. Due to Alsid’s flexible business model, small entities are able to cut a tailor-made deal.

Prevent excessive workload on cybersecurity teams

Lagardère’s major objective was to improve the security of its critical infrastructures without increasing the workload of its human resources. Indeed, in a small entity, cybersecurity can be managed by one or two people maximum.

Many security solutions have operational drawbacks, putting a heavy burden on the security teams. Compliancy solutions often require defining security rules and maintaining them over time, which turn out to be highly time-consuming for a small team. Alsid offers a definitive solution to this pain point by providing every detection rule to ensure Lagardère stays safe against the most advanced cyberattacks.

Thanks to its security as a service approach, Alsid drastically reduces impacts for security teams and makes Active Directory security seamless.

Reduce false-positives using Alsid’s unrivaled correlation engine

Reducing the number of security events that need to be reviewed is Alsid’s major advantage for the SOC team. Both Lagardère and Alsid believe that event logs analysis is not suitable in complex IT environments: too much irrelevant information is provided, congesting SOC analyst capabilities and causing important archiving costs. Alsid’s product is the first security solution able to monitor the security of Active Directory infrastructure without using security logs to detect attack paths. By analyzing the replication processes, Alsid identifies breaches at its root and only generates alerts to the SIEM. Alsid was able to reduce the number of security events sent to the SOC team, allowing Lagardère to be more productive by working on relevant information only.
